Although the regular season has not ended yet, the 16 NBA teams that will go to 2009 NBA Playoffs has already been decided. Now, the NBA Playoffs participating teams will fight for higher seeds for home court advantage.

The teams that are currently still in the race for home court advantage are:

Eastern Conference: Philadelphia Sixers (with 40-39 win-loss record) and Chicago Bulls (40-40) for the 6th place.

Western Conference: Denver Nuggets (53-27), Houston Rockets (52-28), Portland Trailblazers (52-28) and San Antonio Spurs (51-28) for 2nd to 5th seed and New Orleans Hornets (48-31), Dallas Mavericks (48-31) and Utah Jazz (47-33) for 6th to 8th seed.

Western Conference: Los Angeles Lakers (63-17), Denver Nuggets (53-27), Houston Rockets (52-28), Portland Trailblazers (52-28), San Antonio Spurs (51-28), New Orleans Hornets (48-31), Dallas Mavericks (48-31) and Utah Jazz (47-33).
