Boston Celtics Slump: No Team is Untouchable
The Celtics play like the reigning champs in their first 29 games of 2008-2009 NBA Regular Season – 27 wins and 2 losses – sick!
Suddenly, the League sustain itself; Suddenly, NBA Teams want to beat the Celtics more than any other NBA teams; Suddenly, the NBA teams realize that the Celtics are not untouchable; Suddenly, the Celtics are tired of all that – they worn out.
KG is worn out – He motivates, he scolds, he yells at, and he ‘lectures’ the Celtics depressed players. KG is surely got skillz – but his skills, this time, are his biggest burden. “In great power lies great responsibility.”
Darn right!
The 7 losses in the last 10 games – regardless their latest win against the Raptors 94 to 88, shows Boston Celtics’ weaknesses – a bench that laid back too much. Or a bench with weak will power? Remember the Big Baby’s cry after KG scolded at him?
KG, KG, KG – Yeah, I see a pattern here. In my opinion, the rise and fall of the Boston Celtics are, like it or not, dependent on KG.
What about Ray Allen and Paul Pierce? They deliver, all right… especially the 8 from 10 three-pointers by Ray, and Glen “Big Baby” Davis’ revival with 11 boards to match his ‘mentor’ KG’s board counts. Then again, they seem tired and exhausted – mentally, that is.
Will the Raptors game is the spark to end the slump? Or is it merely the Raptors play their bad game?
Or, is it time for KG to step down and let the other two superstars to take leading role? Perhaps KG himself is exhausted physically and mentally?
I learn from Yahoo! Sports that Danny Ainge, the Celtics’ GM, shops for players – to shake things around to speed up recovery. I totally agree with Yahoo! Sports Adrian Wojnarowski that, unfortunately, the Celtics can’t get any players they want – NBA teams are not stupid – they are definitely not interested in helping Ainge to strengthen the Celtics.
At this time, the Celtics need more than the other NBA teams do. The Celtics are going to have to offer more for something they want. Suddenly, J.J. Redick of Orlando Magic, one of the players Ainge wanted to wear green jersey, is not for sale anymore (especially to the Celtics!)
Anyhow, this keeps the NBA fascinating and interesting, as always – thanks to the drama.
Good luck on recovering, Boston Celtics!
