A basketball court in Kenya is so socially-responsible, it give local community multiple benefits: A place to play basketball, a school complex, a solar power generator and a rainwater collector to wash and drink. The design of this indoor-outdoor basketball court is so cool that makes NYC’s The Cage not that attractive anymore. As reported by GOOD, the Mahiga basketball court itself is neat and well designed. The metal rooftops are installed with solar panels that will gather solar energy to power lights for the entire school complex. The roof’s gutters will collect rainwater at an estimated 90,000 liters per year with 30,000 liters of storage, while a UV purifier will make the rainwater drinkable.

Adidas’ retro basketball kicks under the Adidas Originals brand name have born a new line – Introducing, the official shots of Adidas Centennial Mid ‘NBA Eastern Conference.’ According to Street Level’s blog, the Adidas Centennial Mid ‘NBA Eastern Conference’ consists of five-pair pack representing an Eastern Conference NBA Team. Although the series highlight the logical choices: Orlando Magic, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics, the inclusion of New York Knicks is questionable (Miami Heat is a questionable one, but they are a better team, thanks to D Wade.) I’m sure that Adidas’ choices are based on market – New York is a huge kicks market. I like the retro look of the basketball shoes, but the huge team logo on the shoes’ tongue disturbs me (the Knicks and Magic’s logo, surprisingly, look better than the rest, in my opinion.) Nevertheless, these new releases are much anticipated by hoops and Adidas fans alike. Here are the official shots of Adidas Originals Centennial Mid ‘NBA Eastern Conference’:

Not many surprises on 2009 NBA Playoffs – The Cavs and The Lakers thrive, while Houston and Celtics are struggling without T Mac and KG (especially for Houston – Yao’s injury salts Houston’s already open wound – maybe next year, guys?) For those of you who are fortunate enough to be able to watch the action live, court side (I wish I could go to Magic Playoffs games), here’s a tip for you to make sure your NBA “celebs” sighting worthwhile (and you can brag about it later.) You must’ve taken some pictures of the game… Now bring this a step further – Posterize your fav ballers posterized their opponents – get it? You can find custom poster printing services from reliable provider such as PSPrint, and have your favorite basketball moments printed in large. In PSPrint case, you can turn any digital NBA actions image from your digital camera into a high gloss custom poster. And oh, you can print a poster as large as 27″ x 39″ – cool! Maybe you should print LeBron and the Cavs’ in-action posters and sell them on eBay – That will surely make you some money, as the Cavs will reign in [...]

While surfing the Web today, I stumbled on basketball shoes that are not really that cool, but have an interesting feat that should attract environmentally conscious ballers out there. Nike Dunk High – Black/Neutral Grey-Hoop Orange is constructed using hemp material and extracted basketball rim. Despite the negative association of hemp to Cannabis, it is used nevertheless as the grey side panel of the shoes. The orange color of the shoes is extracted by a basketball rim. Talk about environmentally friendly! You can grab this shoes in Nike stores nationwide. Image by KicksOnFire.com.

Nike just unveiled the look of the latest Nike Zoom Kobe 4 (IV) series – the 2009 NBA All-Star Game Edition. The shoes, obviously created to get along seamlessly with the 2009 NBA All-Star Game Western Conference jersey color. According to SneakerFiles.com, the release date is still unknown. The features I like: Kobe’s gold signature, Kobe’s patented logo on the shoes’ tongue, and the light weight of the shoes at 11.6 ounces. The features I don’t like: The ugly sole-front and the color! I prefer the original release’s color choices. I bet the shoes will be released before the 2009 NBA All-Star Game! (Duh! LOL.) Header image created from MarqueeSole.com and KB24.com. Shoes image by MarqueeSole.com.

The command or create campaigns are the sequel campaign of Adidas’ Basketball is a brotherhood ads series. The Brotherhood highlights Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, Chauncey Billups, Gilbert Arenas as endorsers of the TS series. The advertisement is amazing, the shoes is amazing, and the basketball players are amazing. My pick – TS Commander, over TS Creator. The KG images on the shoes are way too cool.
