Michael Jordan chooses David “Skywalker” Thompson to present his induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame, as reported by Yahoo! Sports.
A surprising choice, as MJ could just choose Coach Smith (North Carolina legendary coach – MJ’s college coach), Phil Jackson (coach MJ and the Bulls to yank 6 NBA titles) or Charles Barkley (a rival and buddy.)
David “Skywalker” Thompson, however, seems a logical choice to MJ – Jordan’s game resembles Thompson’s, especially with those gravity-defying acrobatic dunks (and, oh, Skywalker has a 48-inch vertical leap.) Thompson also starred North Carolina State in college, so he is pretty much coming from the same ‘hood in college.
David Thompson was inducted to the NBA Hall of Fame in 1996 after a 9-season career (7 with the Denver Nuggets and the last 2 with the Seattle Sonics), playing 592 games, averaging 32.8 minutes, 22.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, while shooting .505 from the floor (stats by Basketball-Reference.com)- Pretty impressive career.
