Jason Whitlock of FoxSports.com writes an interesting article about the NBA player movements approaching the NBA Trade deadline. One big question: Are NBA players putting themselves above their teams – and the fans? Are they the one to blame?
According to Jason, the answer is yes. Money has changed pro sport, especially pro basketball. Players are doing what they think best; moving teams for their best interest; getting traded to an NBA team that offers the most. Just like what Dwyane Wade told reporter about Carmelo Anthony going to New York: “As a player, you have to do what’s best for you.”
The fans are loyal to their teams, but unfortunately the players don’t share the same ideal. But they are not the only one to blame. NBA Teams also wrecking the NBA, despite they arguably do it for their fans interest, they often being unfair to their players.
I’ve read too many stories about NBA players who are in disbelief because they are being traded out without letting them know first in advance. Some NBA players even rant that pro basketball is way much different than college basketball in a bad way: Something they need to adjust to – I suspect, they need to adjust that it’s all about business, nothing personal.
So, are NBA players are selfish? Maybe, but they are probably reacting what the NBA teams execs are doing. If NBA teams are trading their players without proper notifications, why NBA players should care about their teams? This lack of respect situation on both sides will eventually destroy the NBA.
Your take?
